The Best AI Writing Tools: How Does Wordtune Compare?

The Best AI Writing Tools: How Does Wordtune Compare?

Table of contents

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are transforming the content creation process. With AI, you can instantly check spelling and grammar, analyze data to see how content has performed, and generate text to brainstorm ideas. AI can help you craft many types of writing, from blog posts to social media content.

As AI content writing tools are relatively new, there’s an ongoing debate surrounding them. Questions like “will AI writing tools take over from human writers?” are being asked. But, as a copywriter, I can say that AI-generated content tools haven’t taken over my work, but rather have enabled me to speed up my writing process and improve productivity.

In this article, I'll explore the benefits of using AI writing software, review the top tools currently available, and explain why Wordtune is one of the best options on the market today.

Comparing the best AI writing tools in 2023

There are many AI writing tools available on the market. To help you choose the best one for you, I’ve compared and analyzed some of the most popular platforms.

Wordtune

Wordtune is a generative AI writing tool that uses natural language processing (NLP) to create engaging content. The tool identifies your writing style and generates original content that matches it.

Wordtune has a straightforward, user-friendly layout — so you don’t need to be a tech expert to use it. This makes it an accessible tool compared to others that can require time and training to understand.

Simply write or copy and paste your text into Wordtune’s Editor to receive suggestions on how to boost your writing. Wordtune will quickly spot any spelling and grammar mistakes, ensuring quality writing every time.

You can easily change your tone of voice using the Casual and Formal buttons. This helps you create text suited to your target audience. Wordtune also offers tools to Shorten, Expand, and Rewrite sentences, giving you a list of options to choose from.

The Spices tool amps up your writing game. Ask Wordtune to give an example, explain a point, offer a counter argument, and more to make your writing engaging. Or, ask Wordtune to generate an AI-crafted text from scratch by simply entering in your own prompt.

Wordtune Editor’s “Spices” tool in action. Here, the “Spices” drop-down menu provides various command options, including “Continue Writing,” “Explain,” “Emphasize,” and more.

Use the content templates to quickly generate LinkedIn posts, emails, creative headlines, and more.

Cost: Wordtune offers several affordable plans. The free version gives you unlimited text corrections and up to 10 Rewrites and Spices each day. From here, premium plans start at $9.99 per month, and include a business option for teams.

Grammarly vs Wordtune

Grammarly is well-known for improving spelling, grammar, and sentence structure. Recently, the platform has added additional AI features with GrammarlyGO. The tool can now edit tone, shorten copy, and generate text. It can also detect plagiarism.

Before users begin writing, they can select the audience, formality, and intent (inform, describe, etc.) of their copy. This will inform Grammarly’s suggestions.

While Wordtune and Grammarly have similar features, Wordtune is easier to navigate. For example, if I want to make my tone more casual in Wordtune, I simply click the Casual button on the top toolbar. But with Grammarly, users have to click on Predictions in the sidebar and then scroll to find the casual tone option.

As well as making it easier to access features, Wordtune offers the unique Spices tool. Spices can instantly provide a joke, a historical, statistical, or nature fact, and even craft an example. Wordtune also provides the source for all of its facts so you can double-check the credibility.

While Grammarly lets you type a basic set of instructions to receive a content draft — useful for businesses that produce content at scale — Wordtune works in sections. This makes detailed work easier, as it enables you to generate a paragraph you can then edit, use as inspiration, or ask Wordtune to expand on. This gives you more control over the writing process. Plus, the available content templates in Wordtune makes crafting your desired copy quicker and easier.

Wordtune’s approach also lets your voice shine through. Content produced solely by AI can lose the human touch that makes writing great, but Wordtune works with you to elevate your style.

Cost: Grammarly offers a free plan, and premium plans begin at $12.99 a month.

Jasper vs Wordtune

Jasper is an AI-writing assistant suitable for businesses and entrepreneurs looking to develop their marketing copy. The tool generates text, from short-form content to full documents. The platform offers 70+ templates which users can select from to create content. These include templates for social media captions, stories, ad headlines, and more.

Jasper also integrates with tools such as Surfer SEO to optimize content for search engine results pages (SERPs). The tool can even create AI-generated images based on requirements set by the user.

While Jasper includes detailed resources for support, the platform can be tricky to understand. It has many functions and features that users may need training for in order to use them. On the other hand, Wordtune is designed to be user-friendly for writers and creators regardless of tech ability.

Cost: Pricing for Jasper begins at $39 per month.

Scalenut vs Wordtune

Scalenut is an AI-powered SEO platform that optimizes copy for search engines such as Google. Its SEO tools cover all content creation stages, from planning, writing, and publishing. Features include a long-form content generator, a keyword planner to analyze popular keywords, and comprehensive competitor insights.

Scalenut identifies the top-performing competitors in users’ industries, and indicates what SEO strategies these competitors are using. For example, you can use Scalenut to reveal what keywords similar sites are targeting.

Because Scalenut is focused on keyword research and content optimization, it isn’t as flexible as Wordtune. With Wordtune, you can quickly generate and develop any text with the help of AI. While it doesn’t offer SEO tools, you can use the Editor to refine SEO elements such as meta descriptions and titles. For example, the Shorten button can keep titles and descriptions within the recommended length.

Cost: Scalenut prices start at $39 per month.

ChatGPT vs Wordtune

ChatGPT is an AI content writing tool designed to create natural-sounding responses that mimic human writers. It can be used to generate a wide range of copy such as sales emails, social media posts, and blog content.

With ChatGPT's text generator, users can brainstorm ideas and consider content direction. For example, someone planning an article on how to improve writing skills could ask ChatGPT to put together a list of ideas.

ChatGPT is driven by user-inputted prompts. Because of this, prompts have to be very specific in order to receive the answer or content desired. People using ChatGPT often need to continually refine their queries, so it can be difficult to get the most out of it. They may even receive an inaccurate response if they do not provide enough context.

Wordtune, on the other hand, checks at least five sources before providing a verified fact. The Summarizer feature also lets you create a library of resource material that you can easily pull from at any time — making sure your content is accurate and reflective of your research.

In contrast, Wordtune requires no technical knowledge and offers a very user-friendly interface. For example, if a user wanted ChatGPT to create an example, they would have to write a specific prompt such as “Write an example to explain x.” But with Wordtune, you can simply click on the Spices button and select Give an example from the drop-down menu. This saves you time and is much easier than having to come up with and refine prompts.

What’s more, Wordtune gives you the source of its facts and examples, meaning you can always verify information quickly and simply.

While ChatGPT can produce lengthy amounts of content quickly, Wordtune offers more detail-oriented tools for writers. For example, Wordtune can act as a companion that provides content suggestions based on your tone and writing style. It can even help you to expand, shorten, and enliven text with a joke. This makes Wordtune a great copywriting tool for shaping and developing engaging content.

Cost: ChatGPT offers a free plan, and paid plans begin at $20 a month.

Sudowrite vs Wordtune

Sudowrite crafts descriptive copy and generates ideas for storytelling. Its Editor guides you through the storytelling process, from creating an idea and formulating an outline, to providing examples of twists and character descriptions.

The tool has an Expand button to lengthen sections, as well as a Rewrite option to improve sentence structure. You can also summarize chapters and gain actionable feedback.

While Sudowrite is focused on drafting stories, Wordtune helps you create many types of content. With Wordtune, you can generate text and rewrite any type of copy, from stories and articles to blog posts and essays. Use the content templates to quickly generate a variety of posts for social media or as part of a content strategy. This makes Wordtune the more versatile option.

Cost: Sudowrite’s pricing starts at $10 a month.

Hypotenuse AI vs Wordtune

Hypotenuse AI is a content tool for digital marketing and e-commerce businesses. It offers a selection of content templates, including for Instagram posts, website landing pages, product descriptions, newsletters, and press releases.

Hypotenuse AI has features similar to other AI software tools, including a Rewrite tool and content summarizer. It can also generate content in bulk — useful for writers that need to create lots of similar content, such as product descriptions.

While Hypotenuse AI offers features to help writers create copy quickly — increasing productivity — the platform itself lacks the ease and efficiency of Wordtune. For example, Hypotenuse AI requires users to move between different webpages to access all of its features. Conversely, Wordtune contains all features directly in one dashboard, making it much simpler to use. Plus, Wordtune’s Summarizer tool lets you upload documents and links to your own library that you can quickly search at any time.

Hypotenuse AI also doesn’t offer Wordtune’s instant writing feedback. Wordtune immediately picks up on spelling and grammar mistakes, and provides writing suggestions at the click of a button. This makes Wordtune the more advanced editor.

Cost: Hypotenuse offers a seven-day free trial. Pricing for individuals begins at $15 a month, and there’s an option for teams, too.

Benefits of using AI tools for writing

Content creators — whether bloggers, journalists, or business owners creating marketing copy — need to consistently engage audiences with their work. Around seven million blog posts and roughly two to three million news articles are published each day. Creators must maintain high standards to stand out from the competition, appear credible, and attract audiences. From impeccable spelling and grammar to intriguing hooks, ideas, and unique content that provides value.

However, writers aren’t machines. Time limitations and writer’s block can cause businesses and copywriters to struggle. It can be hard to consistently produce content that’s engaging and optimized for various marketing channels. Whether you’re a content writer or marketing manager, AI can lend a helping hand to:

  • Generate content ideas: Tools like Wordtune generate original text to help you brainstorm and plan what to write
  • Improve readability: With in-built grammar checkers, it’s easy to make writing clearer and more concise
  • Detect plagiarism: AI can scan your writing to check for similarities to other texts, detecting any instances of accidental plagiarism that can be quickly corrected
  • Boost SEO: Analyze keywords to help content rank highly in SERPs
  • Organize your briefs: Manage your workflow with tools that plan and schedule client briefs — you can even organize them based on objectives and audience
  • Analyze performance: By analyzing lots of data, such as SERP performance (how your page ranks based on different keywords) and email open rates, AI can provide metrics on how your content is performing
  • Improve efficiency: AI writing tools can check spelling and grammar mistakes, suggest content ideas, and keep you writing by suggesting changes in tone, adding in examples, and more. All this can minimize downtime and increase efficiency.
  • Boost automation: With the ability to automate tasks and publishing — from email to SEO and social media — AI can take care of admin work so you don't have to.

This is how you can use our recommended list of top AI tools to support your writing or content creation process.
